Opportunities for Language Learners in the Community

CeLTA offers a number of opportunities for language learners in the community to practice and apply their language skills.

Language Classes for Adults

The CeLTA Language School offers weekly language and culture classes for adults that focus on practical communication skills in the target language. Advance your conversation skills with our experienced language instructors, interact with other like-minded people in class, and learn about the nuances of how to navigate a different culture. Experience the joy of being back on campus through this enriching opportunity that will help you keep your brain fit and stay sharp intellectually. Our small group sizes and supplemental online resources provide hands-on learning experiences for individuals with and without prior foreign language knowledge.

Language Classes for Children

Weekly language classes are offered for preschoolers (ages 3-6), children (ages 6-12), and teens (ages 13+) in spring and fall semesters. Week-long day-camps are offered for children and teens in the summer. Our language and culture programs for children provide practice for speaking and listening while incorporating some reading and writing (age-dependent) in the target language. Our goals are to introduce the children to different facets of the target language and culture, expand any existing knowledge, and increase their abilities in using the target language. We emphasize functional language use and cultural awareness. The interactive and engaging learning environment and small size of our groups ensures active learning and individualized attention.

Conversation Hours

Come to the CeLTA space to practice your language skills and meet new people. This is an informal, low-pressure atmosphere where you can speak in the target language, ask questions, and learn more about culture.
